Siratus Echoes from the Deep ~ Original Surreal Shell Portrait

Siratus: Echoes from the Deep ~ Original Surreal Shell Portrait
Original surreal shell portrait on paper by Carmen Delprat, 2023. Large format, framed.

Siratus: Echoes from the Deep is an original shell portrait exploring quiet perception and atmospheric stillness through refined illustrative detail.

The subject is positioned in contemplative repose, her gaze lowered as she tilts toward an alabaster Siratus shell. The shell becomes a focal form within the composition, introducing sculptural contrast against the softness of the portrait.

Radiating line work emerges from the shell, suggesting rhythmic movement across the surface of the drawing. These linear gestures introduce visual vibration while maintaining compositional balance between structure and fluidity.

Executed through controlled tonal development and fine illustrative detail, the work builds depth through layered shading and precision line work. Light and shadow move gently across the surface, giving the illustration an intimate, quiet luminosity.

Soft celeste blue, golden yellow and muted crimson tones establish atmospheric warmth and chromatic harmony.

About the Siratus shell
Siratus shells belong to the murex family and are admired for their delicate, frilled ridges and pale, chalky colouring. The alabaster tones and radiating forms in this portrait carry the idea of quiet perception: listening closely, holding still and letting echoes surface.

Siratus: Echoes from the Deep is designed as a contemplative work for interior spaces seeking softness, presence and quiet visual rhythm.
