I’m pleased to be featured in Laura Bartlett’s Life By Design series in an in-depth conversation about my art practice, creative life and the decisions behind Carmen Delprat Art.

The interview explores how I have built my art practice alongside a full-time teaching career, the recurring symbolism of shells, ocean, memory and transformation within my work, and the relationship between the artist, artwork and collector.
We also talk about Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow, the role of art during difficult times, placing value on creative work, and how I decide which opportunities genuinely support the direction of my practice.

The painting must always lead.

I believe growth is valuable when it allows the work to become stronger, more adventurous and more meaningful — not simply when it produces more.
