Entangled
Escape is an original Newcastle Baths oil painting by Australian artist Carmen Delprat, 2022, on University Mixed Media Paper and framed in white.

Entangled is a monochromatic fine illustration exploring the relationship between thought, memory and natural growth patterns.

The portrait presents a figure in quiet repose, her form merging with a spiralling tree structure that emerges organically from the composition. The tree’s twisting architecture introduces rhythmic movement while maintaining structural balance between figure and form.

Branches extend outward across the composition, creating directional flow and suggesting continuity rather than narrative resolution. The organic line work reflects natural growth structures found within living systems, where expansion occurs through gradual transformation rather than abrupt change.

Executed through controlled tonal contrast and refined line development, the monochromatic palette reinforces the contemplative quality of the work. Light and shadow move across the surface to create depth, clarity and visual restraint.

Entangled is conceived as a study in psychological and natural architecture — a contemplative work designed for interiors seeking intellectual presence and quiet visual strength.
