Beyond Horizons
"Beyond Horizons" ~Original art by Carmen Delprat.
Oil Painting on Canvas. 91cm x 76cm, 2024.
So, what’s Beyond Horizons really about?
When I painted Beyond Horizons, I wanted to create a moment of pause — something expansive, still, and yet full of quiet movement. The rainbow that stretches across the sky isn’t just colour for colour’s sake — it’s a bridge. A soft reminder that there’s always more beyond what we can see. I see it as a kind of portal… one that takes you inward as much as outward.
The spiral shell against the sky is deliberately placed — it’s not just beautiful, it’s symbolic. For me, it represents the passage of time in all directions: the past, the present, and the future folding into one.
When we slow down long enough to notice those layers, something shifts. We reconnect with the now.
The painting plays with balance — between realism and something dreamlike, between sky and sea, stillness and motion. That’s where the meditative quality comes from. The soft curves, the elemental colours — celeste blue, golden lemon and deep crimson — are all chosen to bring in harmony. They echo the elements of air and water, both of which help us release, breathe and return to calm.
Shells have always symbolised protection and renewal and I love how they bring that grounding presence to a room.
Whether you choose a large statement piece or a curated collection of smaller works, the right artwork should speak to your space and your story. It should bring not just beauty — but feeling.
So let me ask you… what might open up for you, if you allowed yourself to see beyond the horizon?
